This new project titled "Eau de Eau,"
created by Max Papeschi and Arianna Bonucci
in collaboration with Love Therapy.
"Eau de Eau" paints a picture of a dystopian future that starkly mirrors our present reality, where water, our most vital resource, has become critically scarce. In this not-so-distant future, the essence of life is a luxury accessible only to a privileged few.
Water is presented as the ultimate high-end product, bottled in designer packaging reminiscent of luxury perfumes, limted edition, and marketed as the must-have "fragrance" of the moment, priced at an exorbitant rate and coveted as a symbol of status.
Through sharp irony and evocative language, "Eau de Eau," forces us to confront the unsettling truths of our current societal values.
The perfume bottle serves as the central element of this project: a sleek and radiant object crowned with a gold-dipped cap that reimagines planet Earth as a precious gem. Functioning as both a vessel and a conceptual piece, it embodies symbolism and invites contemplation. Every aspect is meticulously crafted to echo the visual language of high-end cosmetics, yet it subtly inverts their inherent meaning.
While containing actual water, this element also acts as a metaphor – the very essence of life distilled into an aesthetic form. The bottle transcends its utilitarian purpose, becoming the artwork itself. It playfully engages with the paradoxical nature of consumerism, questioning established norms and prompting us to consider the value we place on fundamental resources when they are transformed into emblems of status and influence.
This creation aligns with conceptual art, where the underlying meaning takes precedence over the tangible object, encouraging viewers to examine their perceptions of what truly holds value. Developed in partnership with Love Therapy, the brand established by Elio Fiorucci, the "Eau de Eau" bottle merges the brand's ethical and vibrant perspective with Max Papeschi's politically charged irreverence. This collaboration gives rise to a potent message: employing surface appearances to dismantle superficiality. The project is further enhanced by sophisticated advertising-style visuals and videos, skillfully directed by Arianna Bonucci.
Beyond its aesthetic and conceptual elements, "Eau de Eau" carries a significant real-world impact. Our ethical partner for this project, WAMI Water with a Mission, has marked this occasion by installing new water taps in Nicaragua. This provides a tangible contribution towards bringing clean drinking water to a region heavily impacted by the global water crisis.
